U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland (Emergency and Disaster Management Nursing):

Clinical Nurse Specialist assigned to the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense with duties at the Chemical Casualty Care Division.  Supported the Department of Defense as Subject Matter Expert on chemical-related issues in instructor, educator, and consultant capacities.  Facilitated and directed civilian counter-terrorism programs with evidence-based medical practice in patient care and chemical agent training.  Responsible for oversight of all aspects of plans, operations, and training for Medical Chemical Biological Casualty Care Course; Field Chemical and Biological Casualty Course; and Hospital Management of Chemical Casualty, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosion Course.  Assisted with preparation and development of education materials. 

U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, Fort Detrick, Maryland

Responsible for direct management of fiscal and human resources as Containment Care Head Nurse and Aeromedical Isolation Team Officer-in-Charge.  Provided and directed nursing care in an expandable two-bed Biosafety Level 4 (BSL-4) high containment care unit and patient transport of any worldwide exposure to potentially lethal diseases.  Oversaw a commensurate budget and supervised a combined staff of 25 officers and enlisted personnel of the Medical Augmentation Team and the Aeromedical Isolation Team on a rotational basis.  Monitored and evaluated clinical competence, facilitated staff development, measured productivity and supported appropriate research endeavors.  Served as adjunct faculty to the Medical Management of Biological and Chemical Casualties courses.  Alternate member of the Laboratory Animal Care and Use Committee.
