Dr. Harvey’s work focuses on understanding the social and environmental determinants of chronic disease management to improve health and well-being within rural and older minority individuals. Dr. Harvey’s research agenda centered on conducting community-based research with populations whose health concerns are often overlooked or marginalized. Her current research endeavor focuses on integrating salivary bio-specimens into chronic disease self-management research among rural and aging African Americans. She received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Clemson University, an MPH from Morehouse School of Medicine, a doctorate in public health from the University of Pittsburgh and completed two-year postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan Schools of Public Health as a W. K. Kellogg Community Health Scholar.
